Yes I know it is only a little over a month overdue. I was waiting for some good pics to drop by since I could not make the race myself. As it is I had to go and steal one.
Back in October at the Canadian ABA Grands in Chilliwack BC, Airdrie BMX's Jim Brown and Kaila Sweeney won the top Canadian Male Pro and top female pro awards. Again folks this is quite a feat when you consider there is not one ABA track in Alberta.
Congratulations Jim, Kaila and Supercross. > Better late than never right?

Alberta BMX Casino
Hey Everyone
Well the dates have finally arrived. Our Casino dates are scheduled and they are June 24 and 25,2010. If you look on our racing calendar, that is the Thurs. and Fri. before Edmontons Provincial race. That being the case, it is understandable if volunteers from the Edmonton track are going to be really busy. I am asking all the other clubs in the province to please encourage some of your people to come out and give us a hand. If you have been to any of the board meeting lately, you know that we are in need of this casino money. I am taking names of anyone who is willing to come out and lend a hand. Look at it as an extended weekend, we go up work the casino race some BMX and go home Sunday having killed two birds with one stone. If you can work this casino, please email me at fduhaime@telusplanet.net letting me know your availability and what position you would prefer. I really need some countroom people for sure. If you signed up with me at the AGM but know that the dates are not going to work, could you also let me know so that I can pull your name off the list. I hope alot of you can get back to me.
Thanks everyone.
See you next year.

Track Changes
Update: The track build committee met and decided that with weather, money and scheduling issues mounting it would be best to not re-build the entire track this fall. It WAS decided to attempt to re-build the start hill this fall. We are currently awaiting approval from the city to use concrete lock blocks (which are made with waste concrete, thus not considered engineered structure grade concrete) as retaining walls for the start hill. Once administrative hurtles are cleared there is still plans to get dirt and re-build the hill this fall in prep for a total track re-build next year.
Congratulations - sorry for being so late..
Congratulations have to go out to Airdrie BMX Rider Chase Kelln for winning the "All-Canadian Award". It has not been won by an Airdrie Rider (or any other Alberta rider, I believe) for several years. This award is presented to a rider who wins: The Canadian Championships, the Provincial Championships, the Alberta Cup Series AND the West National Series titles for for their age group. Essentially they have won EVERYTHING that they possibly can. Way to go Chaser!!!!!!

BMX Racing Video Game??
UCI and ILM sign a deal To Produce BMX Supercross Video Game!
The International Cycling Union (UCI) has agreed to a deal with Interactive Licensing Management Ltd (ILM) to allow it to exclusively represent the rights linked to interactive entertainment for UCI BMX events (in particular the World Championships and BMX Supercross World Cup).
The deal concerns all interactive platforms (notably video games) which will feature a large number of the best BMX riders in the world, existing tracks and images – approved – of UCI events.
David Colley, Managing Director of ILM is very pleased with the deal: “We are delighted to be working with the UCI,” he said. “The growing TV coverage of BMX and its recognition by the IOC as an Olympic event shows that it is developing rapidly. This is thanks to the grass roots development and commitment of the UCI. Now is the perfect time for the sport to make its official entry into the interactive arena.”
Johan Lindström, the UCI’s BMX Sports Coordinator added, “The UCI is very excited about the idea of having an official UCI BMX video game. I believe BMX racing, especially the BMX Supercross World Cup format, will adapt well to a video game format.”
The deal has also been welcomed by BMX riders, including New Zealander Sarah Walker, the 2009 UCI BMX Elite Women World Champion. “Technology is now part of everyday life, whether that is in the business world, professional life or sport. Having a video game for BMX will lift the profile of our sport and hopefully increase the number of riders and spectators," says Walker.
American Mike Day, silver medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games, is similarly enthusiastic. “I’m super pumped of the idea of seeing myself in a video game. I play a lot of video games and BMX Supercross will most definitely be great as a video game,” he says.

Chula Am Track
I love the speed limit sign and the direction arrows - just in case a rider gets lost between the gate and finish line.
Chaser and Brettksky Shreddin in LA
I don't know about you but I always think of Brett S as Patrick Lebel's "Mini Me".
Webmaster Note
In case you have not noticed there has not been much change or updates on the rest of the Airdrie BMX website. The portion of the site that is served by our contract hosting company has run into technical difficulties. Actually the software that was previously used for the web editing over there has been damaged on my end and as such I am currently not able to update it. So for those of you who have been sending in ads for the "Classifieds Page" my apologies for not getting them updated - this is why. I will be working on getting it fixed shortly.
Sincerely,
Webmaster
